Kevin Alley (OF) earns first-team All-CAC honors
ST.MARY'S CITY, MD-- Salisbury University, the 2007 CAC baseball tournament champion, placed eight players on the baseball All-CAC teams as released today by the conference office. The Sea Gulls had six players selected to the first team and two selections on the second team. York (Pa.), the top-seeded team in the tournament, finished with seven players on the teams; three on the first team and four on the second team. York's freshman pitcher Jason Christenberry was chosen Rookie of the Year while Mary Washington senior shortstop Eric Fitzgerald was selected Player of the Year. After leading his team to a current overall record of 30-7, and a second consecutive CAC tournament title, head coach Doug Fleetwood of Salisbury was chosen by his peers as the 2007 CAC Baseball Coach of the Year.
Gallaudet's Kevin Alley, a freshman transfer student from Salem, Oregon, was named to the first team (all players being the top 11 vote-getters) All-CAC squad. Alley finished the 2007 season with a .395 batting average over 33 games played. In 119 at-bats, he produced 47 hits and drove in 38 runs. Alley also hit 10 doubles, four triples and three home runs (two in one game) and had 19 RBI. He leads the Bison in almost all categories (except for assists and bases-on-balls), the most prominent with 116 put-outs at centerfield, and only producing four errors all season. Alley's total slugging percentage stands at .622 while his fielding is .968. In those 119 at-bats, Kevin struck out only 13 times, and earned 15 walks, also stopping at two bases shy of the Bison stolen base record (33), with 31 steals, in 31 attempts. He finished the season with 74 total bases.
