WASHINGTON, D.C. - A major snowstorm set to wreak havoc on the Mid-Atlantic region this weekend has caused the cancellation of several Gallaudet University athletic events scheduled for Saturday, February 6. The snowstorm will begin Friday and last through Saturday. Projections predict a 'historic' snow total of at least a foot to two feet of snow in the metro area.
The Gallaudet men's and women's basketball doubleheader against Capital Athletic Conference foe Hood College has been postponed. The game was slated to be played at Fort Detrick in Frederick, Md., late on Saturday afternoon. No make-up date(s) have been announced at this time.
The Bison men's and women's track and field team were set to travel to Newport News, Va., tomorrow to compete in the Vince Brown Invitational indoor meet hosted by Christopher Newport University but GU will not attend due to the storm. As of right now the invitational is still set to take place tomorrow.
Subsequently, the men's and women's basketball doubleheader on the road against Christendom College has been moved from Monday, February 8, to Thursday, February 18. The game times remain the same with the women's game at 6 p.m. followed by the men's game at 8 p.m.
